Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the provision of MacBook diagnostic, repair, and collection services by FixMacBook ("we", "us", or "our"). By submitting a quote request, booking a collection, or sending your device to us, you ("the Customer") agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Quotes and Diagnostics
All initial quotes provided via our website, email, or telephone are estimates based on the information you provide. They are not binding agreements.
- Upon receiving your device, our technicians will perform a full diagnostic assessment.
- If the actual issue differs from your description, or if additional faults are found (e.g., internal liquid damage), we will provide a revised quote.
- No Obligation: You are under no obligation to proceed with the revised quote. If you decline, we will return your device to you (a standard return shipping/diagnostic fee may apply, which will be communicated prior to booking).
2. Device Collection and Transit
We utilise trusted third-party courier services for our UK-wide collection and return service.
- Packaging: You are strictly responsible for securely packaging your MacBook before handing it to the courier. We cannot accept liability for physical damage incurred during transit due to inadequate packaging.
- Transit Insurance: Devices shipped using our provided labels are covered by our courier transit insurance up to the current market value of the device, strictly subject to the courier's terms of carriage and proof of secure packaging.
3. Data and Privacy (Customer Responsibility)
We respect your privacy, as outlined in our Privacy Policy. However, device repair carries inherent risks to stored data.
- Data Backup: You are solely responsible for backing up all data, software, and files on your MacBook (e.g., via Time Machine) before sending it to us.
- Data Loss Liability: FixMacBook accepts absolutely no liability for any loss, corruption, or compromise of data, software, or files during the repair or diagnostic process.
- Unless you are specifically paying for a Data Recovery service, we do not back up your device prior to repair.
4. The Repair Process
We strive to complete all repairs as quickly as possible, but we do not guarantee specific turnaround times, as these depend on parts availability and the complexity of the fault.
- We reserve the right to use high-quality OEM, original, or refurbished premium parts for repairs, depending on availability and the specific repair required.
- Any replaced damaged parts become the property of FixMacBook and will be recycled responsibly, unless you explicitly request their return prior to the repair commencing.
5. Warranty on Repairs
We stand by the quality of our work. FixMacBook provides a standard warranty on most repairs.
- Coverage: The warranty covers the specific parts replaced and the direct labour associated with that specific repair.
- Exclusions: The warranty is instantly voided if the device suffers subsequent physical damage, liquid damage, software modifications, or is opened/repaired by a third party after being returned to you.
- Pre-existing Conditions: The warranty does not cover underlying faults that were not part of the original repair (e.g., logic board failure a month after a screen replacement). Liquid damage repairs carry specific, limited warranties which will be detailed in your quote.
6. Payment and Uncollected Devices
Payment for repairs is due upon completion, prior to the device being dispatched for return delivery.
- If a device remains unpaid for, or if we cannot contact you regarding a completed repair or declined quote for a period of 90 days, we reserve the right to recycle or sell the device to recover our costs, in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, FixMacBook's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with our services shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific repair, or the current second-hand market value of the device in its pre-repair condition (whichever is lower).
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
